Declaring that an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us,” the Mount Vernon Forward coalition candidates for City Council expressed their solidarity with the Asian-American community and vowed to support anti-discrimination and education policy in the city.

“The outbreak of bias and hate crimes and outright bigotry against our Asian-American friends and neighbors has no place in our community. We are horrified by the increase in attacks on people of Asian descent, and we condemn the violence and hateful speech that unfortunately closely followed the worst of the Trump Administration. Discrimination and hatred hurts all of us. We condemn scapegoating in the tragic pandemic, and we support our Asian-American neighbors here in Mount Vernon.”

The MV Forward team urged residents to report incidents of bias incidents or discrimination by filing a report (either anonymously with contact information) with the Westchester County Human Rights Commission at its newly-launched webpage at www.westchestergov.com/biasreporting.
